Make Fun "Dear Santa" Cookies for the Holidays

Give the man in red a big ol' belly laugh with these Dear Santa Cookie Stencils from Confection Couture!

Here's what you'll need:

Cookies, Stencils & Cutters:

Airbrushing Accessories:

Isolation and Masking Tools:

Masking

First, load 5-6 drops of Emerald Green DecoPac airbrush food coloring into the reservoir of the airbrush tool.

To mask off intricate design elements, cut a piece of Glad Press'n Seal roughly the size of the stencil and place it over the top, pressing it into place to remove any bubbles or wrinkles.

Now, take a Gyro-Cut craft and hobby cutting tool and trim around the undesired element - in this case the vertical line of the lined paper design. Turn the blade sideways and use it to lift the corner of the cut plastic. Then peel away everything else leaving the vertical line element covered.

Stenciling

Separate the two portions of you Stencil Genie and place the thicker side down, magnets facing up. Next, place the stencil over the top and place the Screen Genie over the top and lock everything into place using the remaining piece of the Stencil Genie.

Place the entire assembly over the cookie, lining up the design where you'll want the color to go. To help keep the stencil flat against the cookie surface, use stacks of cookie magnets, in three or four, and place them strategically where they do the most good.

Prior to airbrushing each color and cookie, always test out the spray on a stack of paper towels. Adjust the flow as needed by turning the knob on top of the unit.

Apply the color using light, even coats. Use a long needle or chopstick to further press down the edges of the stencil as you go.

Once finished, lift away the magnets and then the tool assembly, and then put the cookie aside to dry.

Repeat this step for all cookies.

Cleaning the Airbrush Tools

To clean the stencils and stencil tools in between cookies, rinse them off and dry completely using either clean paper towels or a lint-free dish towel.

To clean the airbrush tool between colors, rinse out the reservoir 3-4 times, then reattach the hose and fill the reservoir with water. Run the tool on full power until empty. Repeat this step twice more, once again with water and then a third time using an inexpensive 100-proof vodka.

Red Element

Repeat the above steps for masking the lined paper stencil, only this time, remove only the Press'n Seal covering the vertical line element.

Next, load some Super Red colorant into the airbrush tool and stencil the vertical line.

Repeat this step for all cookies.

Black Elements

For the text stencils, load some Midnight Black and airbrush as you did earlier - no masking required!

Repeat for the other two text stencil designs.
