Out of Play-Doh? How To Make It With Kitchen Ingredients

Who doesn’t love Play-Doh? The fun colors and moldable feel make this a fun play toy for kids of all ages. Plus, you can make some amazing models with it or even make jewelry beads!

It may happen that you go to the toy drawer or box and find that you are all out of Play-Doh.

Or you may find that it has gone hard and crumbly!

Luckily, you can make your own kind of Play-Doh at home with common household ingredients. Here, we will show you how!

How To Make Your Own Play-Doh

Ingredients

·       2 cups all-purpose flour

·       ¾ cups salt

·       8 teaspoons white vinegar

·       2 tablespoons vegetable oil

·       2 cups room-temperature water

·       Food coloring and glitter (glitter is optional but sooo fun 😍)

·       Scented oil or vanilla (add to the authentic Play-Doh smell!)

Directions:

Of course, it may sound tricky to make your own Play-Doh. It isn’t (promise) if you follow these steps!

1.     Combine the vinegar, the salt, and the flour in a saucepan and mix them well.

2.     Add the vegetable oil and water to the mixture. Stir and add the scented oil – you’ll notice the difference.

3.     Place the pan onto a medium heat and stir consistently. When the dough pulls away from the sides of the pan and forms a ball, you can remove it from the heat. Allow it to cool. This should only take a few minutes.

4.     Scoop the dough into quartz-sized zipper bags. Add food coloring to each bag and glitter if you want.

5.     Knead the dough until you’ve evenly distributed the color over the dough.

6.     When it is colored, you can store the dough in zipper bags or small containers. You can store it in the fridge if you want it to stay fresh for longer. Or, if there isn’t room, make sure the containers are airtight.
