un-FORE-gettable golf cookies for Father's Day

Make Father's Day un-FORE-gettable with Golf Themed Cookies!

“Putt” a smile on his face this Father’s Day with Confection Couture’s Father’s Day Stencil Collection!

Decorate cookies for Father's Day (or Dad's Birthday) with this large Father’s Day Confection Collection Stencil Set! This set includes a dozen stencil designs on six different stencils and are laser cut on 10 mil food-grade Mylar. These stencils work well with both airbrushing and royal icing (although to layer some of these designs, airbrushing does make the most sense).

Here's what you'll need:

Sugar cookies:

  1. Use our Sugar Cookie Recipe and cut two with a 4" Round Cookie Cutter  and two with a 4" Madrid Plaque Style Cutter
  2. You'll need to flood the cookies with white royal icing (if you need tips on flood consistency check out our Icing Consistency Tips ) and let the icing completely dry.

Supplies Needed to Make Golf Themed Father's Day Cookies

First Things First...

Get your first color ready and load your airbrush!

  1. Replace the Amerimist cap with the cap from the dropper bottle to more precisely controlling the amount of food color - this isn't mandatory, but we find it so much easier to apply the colorant with the dropper tip!
  2. Once the AirGenie is assembled and ready, load the first color into the airbrush tool.

Now, get your stencil ready...

1. Place your first cookie onto a cookie mat or a layer of paper towels to protect your table or counter.
2. We started with a round cookie and the two overlay argyle cookie stencil.
2. Load the first layer into the Stencil Genie.
4. Use the Magnets for Cookie Stencils to help hold the stencil flush over the top of the cookie.

Now it's time to PAR-tee...

  1. Test the airbrush color flow on a folded paper towel or piece of paper before moving to the actual cookie.
  2. Use a scribe tool or a wooden skewer to prevent lifting of any portion of the stencil during color application.
  3. Hold the airbrush as you would a pen in your dominant hand. Test color and airflow on paper towel first, then move straight to cookie. Apply the color using light, even coats, keeping the airbrush moving so as to not allow the colorant to pool. Always

Quick time out...

  1. We suggest airbrushing all like colors together, then moving on to the next color. In other words, do anything you want green done first, then maybe do all of the black, then move on to the red.
  2. Before switching colors, be sure to rinse the airbrush tool thoroughly with clean water (or use grain alcohol or vodka - it works great). Run clean water through the tool with air from the AirGenie system repeatedly until the spray runs clear.
  3. Wash, Rinse Repeat (like your hair 😂) the masking and airbrushing techniques for the next color.
  4. The stencil can easily be cleaned by letting them soak for a minute or two in a bowl of clean water. Then, pat the stencil dry using a lint-free towel.

NOW...Here is the masking hack that you NEED to know!!!

Glad Press’n Seal works great for masking stencils with more intricate design elements (such as the grass, golf ball and golf tee). 😍

...WATCH THIS!!!

Press the film against the stencil, like this...

Apply light pressure to remove any wrinkles or bubbles.

Use the Gyro-Cut Craft and Hobby Cutting Tool to cut around the desired design element and then peel away the cut portion.

You can also use the Quadrant Masking Tool - it works great for quickly masking around stencil elements.
We also love using a scribe tool or wooden skewer to hold down open areas while airbrushing...

Quick Tip:

Clotting of the food coloring can sometimes occur, especially if the airbrush tool sits for a period of time with the color still loaded. This is why it’s so important to test out the spray before each and every cookie.

Repeat the above steps for all remaining cookies and chosen stencils...and you have just scored a hole in one!!!
