What You Will Need
- 1 pound of marshmallows.
- 2 pounds of confectioner sugar.
- 4 tablespoons of water.
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
- 2-3 tablespoons of vegetable shortening.
How To Make Marshmallow Fondant
It's not as hard as it sounds to make marshmallow fondant. Just follow these steps!
Step 1- Coat the inside of a microwave-safe bowl with a thin layer of vegetable shortening. Add the 1lb of marshmallows. Make sure at this stage that you also coat your spatula with shortening.
Step 2- Add the water and the vanilla extract. Then, coat the marshmallows.
Step 3- Microwave the marshmallows in 30-second intervals. Mix until the marshmallows have melted.
Step 4- Add 1 lb of confectioners sugar to the bowl. Combine the melted marshmallows with the sugar.
Step 5- Spread a thin layer of shortening on the surface of the table. Pour the rest of the sugar onto the shortening.
Step 6- Pour the marshmallow mixture onto the sugar. Start kneading it. Use a bench scraper to get all the grains of sugar into the fondant.
Step 7- When the fondant is fully incorporated, cover it with plastic wrap. Allow it to rest overnight.
Step 8- Use a rolling pin to roll the fondant thinly. Using cookie cutters, cut the fondant. Use water and apply it to the back of the fondant. This will act as a glue! Now, you can apply it to the cookies.
