Egg-cellent Easter Egg Cookie Decorating Tips and Tricks!

When Easter time (egg) rolls around, you will likely want to get into some cute baking projects! One of the easiest is, by far, egg shaped cookies.

Flooded with white or pastel royal icing, and the use of egg shaped cookie cutters, and patterned cookie stencils, you can create truly striking cookies that will be seasonal, attractive, and, best of all, easy!

Here, we walk you through how to make some pastel-patterned egg cookies, which can be a great gift for friends and family or an Easter basket treat for your kids.

What We Used

• Egg-shaped cookie cutter any size will do, or grab all three sizes for more interest!
• 2 Overlay Argyle Patterned stencil
• Narrow Stripe stencil
• Stencil Genie Stencil Holder (optional)
• Screen Genie (optional)
• Notta Cookie Reusable Practice Cookie (optional, suggested if you are a beginner airbrusher)
• Flood Consistency Royal Icing (Use our Royal Icing Recipe)
• DecoPac Airbrush Colorant in Fun, pastel Easter colors!
• Airbrush system

Argyle Easter Egg Cookie

1. Make, cut and bake your cookies. Let cool. Flood with royal icing in the color of your choice.
2. Place the 2-Overlay Argyle Cookie Stencil in the Stencil Genie, with the Screen Genie on top, then place on top of the cookie. 
3. Airbrush the pattern onto the cookie with differing colors  for each overlay, allowing the each layer to dry before adding the next color. Practice on a Notta Cookie Reusable Cookie or Paper Towels beforehand if needed!

Blue Gingham Egg

1. Make, cut and bake your cookies. Let cool. Flood with royal icing in the color of your choice.
2. Place the thin stripe stencil over the cookie at a 45-degree angle. 
3. Add your colorant to the airbrush gun, and spray over the stencil.
4. When those lines have dried, turn the stencil 45-degrees the other way and repeat process in the color of your choice. 

*Top Tip- You can make the gingham egg in any color you wish. Red, pink, and even green gingham eggs can add some variety to your cookies and will look pretty at the same time! Just make sure they are pastel colors for an authentic Easter look.
