Icing For Dogs! How To Make Icing For Cookies Your Dog Will Love

Is your dog’s birthday coming up? Or maybe the day you adopted them is approaching?

Many people love to make things for their dogs, and icing for cookies is no different. When it comes to making icing for dogs, you will need to make sure that the ingredients are correct to prevent your pooch from getting ill.

To help you, we have written this simple recipe for dog icing, which we are certain your four-legged friend will love!

What You Will Need

  • Cornstarch, tapioca, or potato starch - 2 tablespoons
  • 4 teaspoons water
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 1-2 teaspoons peanut butter (this is optional)
  • Natural gel food colors
  • Cookies (dog friendly that is)
  • Dog Bone Cookie Cutter and Paw Print Cookie Cutter

How To Make The Icing

  1. In a bowl, add the cornstarch and the honey.
  2. If you are using peanut butter, add it to this mix. The peanut butter will give the icing a smooth consistency.
  3. Add water until you get the desired consistency.
  4. Divide the mixture into different portions and add the gel colors until you reach the hue you want.
  5. Drizzle the icing over your dog’s already-prepared treats or their cake, and serve!

FAQs About Icing For Dog Treats

Why Do I Need To Make Special Icing For My Dog?

Human icing is very high in sugar, so it is not suitable for consumption for dogs. If you have a dog that is diabetic, you will need to talk to your vet about giving your dog any icing, as even a small amount of honey or sugar may make your dog unwell.

Will Icing Upset My Dog’s Tummy?

Icing for dogs, including this recipe, is designed to be as gentle as possible, so, ideally, it shouldn’t cause any issues. If you have an older dog or a dog with a sensitive tummy, adding anything new to their diet may cause an upset tummy, so always check with your vet first.
