Say it with Cookies by Decorating a Perfect Valentines Day Edible Arrangement
Decorating with cookie stencils is the perfect way to create an edible arrangement worthy of being this Valentine's Day centerpiece. Airbrushing cookie stencils is so quick and easy that you can decorate dozens of cookies in an afternoon! Confection Couture Stencils will walk you through some of our lovely new designs while demonstrating how to quickly replicate them using a Stencil Genie and AirGenie Airbrush System. All of the tools used in this tutorial can be found at https://www.confectioncouturestencils.com/.
In no time friends and Family will be saying “how did you do that?!”
The best part about using the same color for all your cookie designs is you won’t need to slow down for even a second to change food colors in the airbrush system. All the prep work you need to do is bake and topcoat your royal icing sugar cookies. We recommend airbrushing your cookies at room temperature so you don’t have any issues with condensation on frozen or refrigerated cookies.
Airbrushing cookie stencils goes so fast that your whole batch will be decorated in no time. You may even wish you baked more! Start out by loading a cookie stencil into the Stencil Genie with the isolation masking tool. You will want the design you are using centered in the isolation masking tool. Now place the stencil design flush to the center of the cookie surface.
Try using cookie magnets over the top of the stencil to make sure the stencil lies as flat as possible. Cookie magnets help a lot around the cookie edges as well as some of the more irregular royal icing topcoats.
The next step is to load the color well of the airbrush with Red Amerimist Food Coloring. Once filled about halfway, test out the airbrush on a piece of paper towel. We recommend starting the airflow at the lowest level and increasing it as needed. Low air flow will get you more precision but higher air flow will give you larger coverage.
Once you get used to the airflow setting on a piece of paper towel you are ready to stencil cookies. Build the color gradually by using a back and forth motion, holding the airbrush about 3-4 inches from the surface and angled straight down.
After 3-4 passes you should get complete color! Once finishing each design you should remove the cookie magnets BEFORE lifting the Stencil Genie off the cookie. If you don't remove the magnets they might pull the stencil out of the Stencil Genie. Save yourself the hassle and get in the habit of taking off the cookie magnets each time. Now you can either move onto the next cookie with the same design or swap out for the next one!
Changing out the stencils is easy. All you need to do is pull apart the Stencil Genie, realign the cookie stencil with the Isolation Masking tool, and place it on the next cookie. Put cookie magnets on the stencil to hold the design flat before you continue airbrushing. No need to clean the stencils between cookies, but if you need to they rinse off quickly in warm water. Pat dry and you are ready to keep stenciling. Check out the video below to see all the designs!
Airbrushing unique cookie designs on each cookie is as easy as changing out the stencil in the Stencil Genie. Cookie stencils make decorating large quantities of cookies fun, easy, and affordable! All of the stencils at Confection Couture Stencils can be used over and over, year after year. Keep them safe with the Memory Keepers Cookie Stencil Binder!
