Have you got a football-mad kid, kids (or let's face it, husband)🏈? Are you eager to perk up a college gameday or Super Bowl party that they will be having? You're in luck! Not all cookies and cakes have to be boring, and here, we will walk you through a simple guide to making cookies 🍪 that looks like a football field!
What You'll Need:
- Sugar Cookies (use our Ultimate Sugar Cookie Recipe)
- Cookie Cutters - we like using the 4" Round Cookie Cutter, the 3" and 4" Square Cutter or one of our 4" Plaque Style Cookie Cutter
- Royal icing -you will need three colors, brown, green and white. The brown and green need to be flood consistency and the white needs to be piping consistency - Use our Royal Icing Recipe.
- DecoPac Premium Gel Food Colors in grass green for the bottom, brown for the "crowd" background (you will use white royal icing to pipe the yard lines
- Rainbow Nonpareils (or rainbow sprinkles)
- A cookie scribe (skewers work as well)
- Piping Bags - one for each color/consistency.
Instructions:
The tip to pulling this cookie off is precision, so you will need a steady hand!
- Make the cookies as stated in the instructions of our Ultimate Sugar Cookie Recipe. Cut them with your chosen cutters and bake according to the recipe.
- Once baked and cooled, flood the bottom ¾ of the cookie with green icing.
- Flood the remainder of the cookie with brown icing.
- While the brown icing is still wet, place the cookie face down into a bowl of rainbow nonpareils or sprinkles. Gently move the rainbow balls into position with your cookie scribe or skewer.
-
Using a piping bag and your white royal icing (in piping consistency), draw the yard lines onto the green part of the cookie.
Top Tip- You can personalize these cookies with guest names if you are throwing a party. Or, why not put different numbers onto the yard lines when you are piping the white icing. This will add a personal touch and will be a great gift to give in a gift bag after a football-themed kids' party!
